Course Description: This course is designed to introduce you to the concepts of JROTC, its mission and purpose. This course will be the base of your educational and experiential learning experience for your entire time in the CCHS Army JROTC program. This class will challenge you to think and act differently then you might have done up to this point in school. The LET 1 course is designed to teach the concepts and procedures cadets will use at all LET levels. This course will use a combination of the Google Classroom Suite and the online application Cadet Portfolio.

 

PREREQUISITES: LET1-3

 

Objectives: As a result of this course you will be able to:

  • Learn the history of JROTC and its mission.
  • Understand basic Army rank structure and the chain of command.
  • Learn how to maintain the Army JROTC Cadet uniform and dress for success.
  • Understand basic citizenship knowledge in regards to the US Flag, National Anthem and the US Government.
  • Develop an understanding of your personal behavior traits, emotions skills and how to interact with those that think and act differently from your norms.
  • Begin a basic understanding of financial goal setting and budget development.
  • Learn the purpose behind service learning and your role in that process.
  • Learn how to march
  • Take part in STEM based Labs
  • Learn land navigation skills
  • Take part in a competitive rank system that rewards you based on merit and 

effort.

 

Grading Rubric:

Academics (tests, evaluations, presentations, assignments)…………40%

Uniform grades (wear/appearance of uniform)………………………… 15%

Leadership evaluations (classroom/lab participation)…………………  15%

Physical Training  (Dressing out and participation)  …………………….10%

Semester Exam or Project………………………………………………….20%
