Teacher Bio

Educational Philosophy

I aspire to a school culture and educational program conducive to student learning and development. I seek to foster positive behavior, student and faculty teamwork, and cooperation in the school environment. I initiated and lead programs to provide clear, concise information both internally to professional staff and externally to students and parents. I enjoy the challenges of education, working with teachers, parents, and students, and the opportunities to make education and athletics happen for each student.

Education

I am a native of Natchez, MS where I attended and graduated from Natchez High School.  I received my B.A. in Sociology from Mississippi State University, a M.Ed. in Cross-Categorical Special Education from the University of Phoenix, and Ed.S in Educational Administration from Georgia College and State University.

Professional Experience

I began my educational career in 1998 in Bibb County as an Assistant Director of a Re-Direct Alternative Program at Neel Academy Alternative School in Macon, GA.  In 2000, I moved on to Elam Alexander Academy where I served as an Educational Therapist  working with Special Needs students and served as an Assistant Varsity Football and Assistant Varsity Basketball coach at Northeast High School.  In 2007, I joined the Southwest Patriots as a Collaborative Special Education Teacher where I worked on the Discipline Committee and served on the Academic Data and Data Processing Team. I also continued to serve in the capacity as Assistant Varsity Football and Basketball coach and was the Head Girls Track coach from 2011-13. I also later served as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Southwest High School and Lamar County High School.

Personal

I am the proud father of 3 (La’Darria, Darrin Jr. and Darrian), and the humble husband of Robbin of 26 years. My desire is that every child I come into contact is afforded the same opportunities to succeed that my children had, therefore every action I take is dedicated to that goal.
